Trying this blog thing again

Yesterday August 1st Sweetie started 3rd grade.
Hubby back to work in N.C. for 10 days.
I am trying to get started on doing things around
the house that I have been putting off.
We had a great summer vacation. Myrtle Beach S.C.
Spent a few days with my brother this past weekB
while he was off on his vacation.
Garden... Cain is growing , have a few peanuts.
Had a good crop of watermelon, squash, peaches, blueberries.
Have 3 grapefruit on the tree and about 12 pears on pear tree.
Bought a new fig tree. Its still small. Seems to be growing.
Got two Gardenia tree plants planted beside front steps.
One not doing so good. Maybe it will make it.
Put red mulch all the way across front of house and planted
6 yellow broom plant bushes. One died. Others are ok so far.
Hope they make it though the winter.
Sweetie has been visiting granny in nurseing home and singing
for the folks there. She does real good one song called
One of Those days by Mckameys gospil group.
She likes to play Bingo with them and be the number caller.
Granny(Motherinlaw) is doing much better. They get her in
the wheel chair for most the day every day now.
August 19th will be Granny and Papa 50th Wedding Anniversery.

A lot of the time we hesitate on making changes in our life because we think we have to take these huge, daunting steps, When all we have to do is begin taking small steps.

1- Buy a book to read.
2- Learn facts about Georgia.
3- Learn one thing new every day.
4- Stop complaining!
5- Exercise 20 minutes! Walk, stretch, bike
6- Write in journal Blog!
7- Limit tv time. Limit computer time.
8- Stop multi-tasking. Do one thing at a time!
9- Plan next day the night before.
10- Make a to do list. Do one thing a day.
11- Eat 3 vegetables, 3 fruits everyday.
12- Stop eating one thing that is not healthy.
13- Drink water instead of coke.
14- Create a list of 7 healthy, easy to fix
        breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner.
15- Look for something positive in partener.
       Write it down.
16- Create a scrapbook of things we do together!
17- Connect with someone new everyday.
       Write who is was.
18- Visit someone you admire and respect.
19- Take a minute to think over you response
         if something upsets you.
20- Always hear both sides of the story.
21- Do one kind deed for someone every day!
22- Make it a point to give praise and approval to
         those who deserve it.
23- If you disagree, try to see the it from their

My top pick is Olive Oil - 4 drops warmed Olive Oil 10 secs in microwave. Put into ear
with dropper or sqeezed from cotton ball to releive pain. It works!

1- Vaseline works great for getting dried super glue off fingers.
2- Put flat, fitted and pillow case into matching pillow case after wash. You have them all together and easy to find at next bed change.
3- Mr. Clean magic eraser will clean most anything. Just wet the the sponge, with a little scrubing wala it's gone.
4- Did you know that drinking two glasses of Gatorade can relieve headache pain almost immediately-without the unpleasant side effects caused by traditional pain relievers?
5- Rainy day cure for dog odor: Next time your dog comes in from the rain, simply wipe down the animal with Bounce or any dryer sheet, instantly making your dog smell springtime fresh.
6- Before you head to the drugstore for a high-priced inhaler filled with mysterious chemicals, try chewing on a couple of curiously strong Altoids peppermints. They'll clear up your stuffed nose.
Or try half cup warm water. Mixed with about half teaspoon table salt. Dip paper towel in the water. Then sniff the salt water up into your nose. Use the rest for your
sore throat gargle.
7- Sore throat? Just mix 1/4 cup of vinegar with 1/4 cup of honey and take 1 tablespoon six times a day. The vinegar kills the bacteria.

Sweetie's 7th Birthday

Sweetie had a great 7th Birthday party with friends and family. Had fun playing with the kids. Got lots of nice presents. Her favorite was the Zhu Zhu hamster pet toys. They are cute and have little house. Also can buy other accessories to add to them later.

Dh planted two peach trees today. Elberta and Belle of Georgia.

Update on mom: Getting ready to transfer her to wound care center in Jacksonville.
She's doing better with the pain and blood pressure is stable.
Dh going back today. Dad is home sick with bad cold and cough.

Sweetie's Story Won!

Two weeks ago sweetie wrote a story at school for young authors competition. Last week she said her story won out of her class. Then yesterday her writing teacher came to her classroom and told her that her story won out of the whole first grade. They sent the paper home to sign for it to be sent to the competition. She has a chance to win the Young Author of Georiga. Sometime in March we will know. I will post the story here as soon as I get a copy. All I know is the the title is Jim and Rose. Jim gave Rose a rose because Rose loves roses.
So proud of her and amazed she has the creativity to write her own story at this age.
Way to go Sweetie!

Snow !

Mother in law was taken to Jacsonville hospital for surgery on her leg. They are going to put a stent in the blocked vein. Hopefully detain from more amputation and help the pain she's been having.

It has been cold and raining here all day. They say it might snow tonight. So we might just have some fun making a snowman in the morning. Would love to see that.

Sweetie has been on school holiday. Last day was Wenesday and goes back next Tuesday.
Dh working up north around atlanta. Will be staying out of town for awhile, home on weekends.

I'm sick with a cold, cough and chest conjestion blah..taking meds, maybe better in a few days.

Update: One hour after I wrote this. It starts to Snow! wow yes it is snowing. Big beautiful snow flakes lots of it. So pretty to see it fall like little angels. Sweetie is talking to it and having a great time playing. She sang a song just before it started. So she is convience it snowed because of her song. Smiles

New Cat - Skyler

Sweetie got a cat today. She named him Skyler.
We keep him inside, he's doing good so far.
Just guessing , I think he is about 10 weeks old.

Painting House in town

Dec. 1st...Brother has started painting house in town.
Jan. 24th.. Finished painting walls in 6 rooms.

Whats left before putting up for sale....

Need back bedroom finished painting.
Celing in bathroom painted.
Floor redone in utilitie room.
Floor, wall and celing in carport room painted.
Carpet shampooed.

Then outside trim painted. Storage Building Emptyed and possibly moved.

Halloween 2009

Sweetie was Cheeta Cat at halloween this year. We had a blast a the halloween festival. They had alot of fun games for the kids. A big rock climbing thing. Sweetie made it up 3 levels. Then we went trick or treating and got a load of candy. Was fun evening.

Gofer Blog

Gofer Turtles when Muture are approx. one foot long and one foot wide. Older ones have a black shell and the younger ones shells are brown and yellow. Not sure how much they weight. But I would say close to 10 pounds. They dig a big hole in the ground and this is where they stay all there life.
I have found six different ones sence we have moved out here in July. Today was a really big one. I write the name in middle square on shell, with a black permant maker. Named this one Mindy. I still am not sure how to tell if they are male or female. This one has a hole down the trail on the left just behind our garden. Thinking she is female and maybe the mama. Found a small one last week in this same area. I named the little one Baby. approx. big around as a grapefruit. We planted new grass from seed in July. They love to come eat this tender grass. Usually show up about the same time everyday. Around 11:30am and 6:00pm .
So this is my little summery of Gofer Turtle Life here on the farm. I will list the names of the ones I've found so far and continue to keep a record of the ones we find later.

Remembering Rambo

Yesterday Saturday morning we woke up to find poor little Rambo very sick. He would not get up or move, except open his eyes. Called the vet, they said bring him to office. So they started him on shock IV. Last Thursday he had thowed up on front and back steps. Looked like he had ate some kind wood. He chewed on everything he found. They did tests and said his liver showed a high count of forgin objects. But thought he would be ok.
The Doctor called us back this morning. He didn't make it though the night.
So very sad to lose a puppie. He was only 12 weeks old.
Rest in Peace Little Rambo. We Love You!

25th Wedding Anniversary

Wow married 25 years. Still in love and enjoying time we share together.
Doesn't seem like it has been 25 years. Time sure flys. Moving in our new house has been a Great Anniversary Present. We also got a new microwave. Sweetie got us a sunflower candle and made the most beautiful Anniversary Card. I will keep forever.

Rambo New Puppie

We got a new puppie today.
He's 8 weeks old.
Blonde golden retriver.

Moved in New House

We had been staying only on weekends in May.
Moved into New House .... Friday June 5th, 2009.
Planted Grass front and back yard, Saturday June 6th.
Much better with our own beds here now. Got Clothes and all the big furniture in. It's great to have more space to put everything.
Puppies are doing good out here. They stay on the front porch most the time. Lots room for them to run and play
Sweetie loves her new pink bedroom. Our bedroom is much bigger
too. Didn't relize how small our other one was till we moved everything in this one. I'm doing the kitchen in Sunflower Theme.
Wonderful to sit on open front porch and watch it rain. We have ate breakfast on back screened in porch a few times. It seems like an outside room.

New Springhill House

Plans are to start moving in the new house June 1st, 2009. Start of summer vacation. Inside is finished. Yard just needs alot of landscaping, some grass would be nice. 87 degrees here today. Looks like it's going to be a hot move. City girls gone country. Here we come.

Springhill House

We have a new house! Yes it's really built. Sitting out there in the middle of the forest.
Still alot to do on finishing it. Major things left are carpet, paint, hook up water lines, connect power, landscapeing, moving our out door building from here to there.
Thinking hopefully we won't actually move out there until this summer after school's out.
Would save me 40 mile round trip school drive if we could wait till June.
Have to wait and see how things go on that.
Trying real hard to accept change. Going to be alot of that this year!

Summer Vacation

Just popped in. Seeing I haven't wrote anything here since June 1, wow where did June go. Well on to July...This was fun month for us. Had a nice 4th party with family and friends. Next week we had 4 day beach vacation. Sun, fun, good eats, and relaxing. Did some biking, putt putting, shopping and lots of swimming. The next week we went to north ga mountains. Hiking, water falls and spent a lot of time on the mountain lake. Then back home for a week. Next week we went back to the same mountain area, since hubby is working there. Did same stuff and enjoyed it just the same. Crisp air and great views. Found a friend from back home that has just built a log house 8 miles up one of the mountains. I could go on and on about that. It was just beautiful with a wild adventure ride on a 4 wheel drive Polaris.
Sweetie is back in school now (Kindergarten) and doing great. Lots better start than pre-k was.
House plans still moving along. Exact layout should be finished next week.
So maybe they will get started on foundation in a couple weeks. I am just stuck in a rut trying to pick the color on the tops for kitchen counters at the moment.

Maybe Building Now??

Trees are cleared on the spot we plan to move.

Mom (Mother in law) in hospital for weeks. Diabetic with 5 surgeries on foot and leg in last two months. Had to amputate half her foot last week.
She's 65 having some strange mind things going on. They say she hasn't had a stroke though. We think maybe it's because they have had to keep her
blood so thin. It has affected her brain in some way.
She thinks her left hand is taking over. Almost has if it is not a part of her body. She drinks from a cup and says her left hand is trying to take it away.

Back to the moving thing. Well hubby is saying now maybe we will build.
Sounds good to me. Note...I'm still not having much excitement about this.
Thinking about much more driving than I do now. Being away from
civilization, going county. Will be so different for me.

Sweetie girl is doing good. Graduated Pre-K. Enjoying summer break.
Plans for a few days at the beach soon! I probley would be putting in pool for her here if we were not in this process of moving. Sigh...Deep breath.
Just have to take it days at the time. See what happens.

The Move part one

This past Easter weekend we made a big decision in our life. Making the move. Living in town All my life. We are now moving to the country. We have our new house picked out already. Getting some trees cut this weekend, marking off the spot to get the site ready to start making the yard.
Selling our Brick house here. Our double wide home will be twice the size of this. Will be a lot different. I am so nervous! Trying so hard to stay cool and go with the flow. Wish me luck please, I do feel this is going to be a good thing and we will be much happier there in the country. I'll keep it short. Because this is probley what I'll taking about for the next year. Keeping updated on our moving progress. Four months is a short time!
Will we be moved in by August 1, 2008 is the big question??

Pretty Colors Tree
Memories of the day me and my best friend played hookie from school.
We stayed up high in the middle of a hugh oak tree all morning. Then we decided to go the resturant down the road and eat lunch. This is where we got caught by her mother and that ended our hookie day.

The Basket Tree
Six Sycamore Trees grafted together in over 40 places to form "The Basket Tree" Very interesting how someone took the time though all the years to guide this tree into growing this way.

The Oldest Tree in the World This tree is a bristlecone pine named Methuselah. It’s the oldest tree in the world, at 4,838 years of age.

Happy New Year Hugggs Blog Buddies,
We had a nice christmas. Fun with family, playing with the kiddy toys is always a hoot around our house. Watching men play with nerf guns was the highlight. Hubby got a new red tractor, a really big toy for him. He spent new year's eve and all new year's day plowing, pushing up bushes and trees. Me and Sweetiegirl cooked the traditional new years day dinner. Blackeyed peas ( she calls them blackeyed peanuts ) Greens, yellow rice and Bacon. Cheers with bubbly Sierra Mist :)
Still wearing her Happy New Year tierra today. Playing Webkinz... A pretty
nice computer game for her. She has the puppie (Ringo) and the frog (Rosie). Sunny and Freezing cold here today. But we have to get out there and get going soon.
Sweetie goes back to school tomorrow and it's going to be freezing again. brrrrrrrr!

I just read my last blog. Sorry to leave you hanging like
that. We are all over the cold and doing well.

Sweetie girl had her 4th Birthday Party on the 28th of February.
Got her signed up for Pre-K last week. She should start in August.
CJ (puppy) is doing good. Still working on her aim. haha

Hope you all are enjoying Spring! I have 4 tomato plants planted.
Maybe they will do better than the ones I had last year.

Earily Morning Blog

5:30 AM Thursday morning. It is 48 degrees. Cold outside. So that's my weather forecast for today. I'm sitting here wide awake. At 5:30 in the morning. Drinking a Coke, yeah coke. After signing up for that coke awards promotion. I drink mostly coke now. Sorry Pepsi....I'll probley be back for you someday.

The rechargeable battery operated Swiffer Sweeper. The the greatest thing. I use mine a lot. On the kitchen rugs. Even the living room. It is so light weight and swiverely. Ok so that's the info commercial on TV at the moment. I do have one and love it.
sniff, sniff, cough, sneeze, blow nose, drink something. Yep you guessed it. I have awful nasty cold flu sick thing. Depressed, everyone here is sick. Hubby came in sick with it yesterday. Sweetie girl woke up at 3 this morning. Thowing up.....I gave her Emetrol and she went back to sleep after about an hour.

Happy Monday Everyone,

Ok I'm just calling this a random bablaing chit chat kinda post. I couldn't think of any special subject I wanted to write about. But I did feel a need to put something here. So you know I haven't disappeared from blog world.
Puppie is doing good. Training is going well and we are adjusting to her, as she is to us. It has been freezing here the last couple nights and cold in the days. So I didn't get out much last week. I just want to hibernate when its cold. I am going to try to get caught up reading everyone's blog this week.
I have been surfing around YouTube alot last week. If I can ever learn how to get my sound working and on the video. I'm thinking of making one to post over there. It makes me feel so much closer to someone when I see a video of them actually talking. There is something about the voice along with a video makes it so much more personal. After fumbling around there a few days. Here is my favorite video I've found so far.
Her name is Heather Martin. Six years old now. Her brother Johnny joined the army when she was four. She sings this song as a letter to him. It's the sweetest thing I've seen on the internet. Just wanted to pass it on.

Introducing our newest family member. My daughter's new puppy CJ. Will be 8 weeks old Jan. 11th . She is the first baby of my brother's two dogs. A Chiwawa and the female is Yorkie. Today is the start of our adventure in puppy pottie training and enjoying the very active sock chewing little wonder. So far she doesn't seem to miss her mom and dad much. Sweetie girl has kept her entertained all day. We will see how the night goes...humm

Making sure we have all the Traditional things around.
Stockings are hung, Poinsettia flowers in pots out front,
Mistletoe hanging above the doorway, Candy canes on
the Christmas Tree, Wreath with holly on the front door,
Nativity Scene, and Rudolph on the lawn waiting for Santa.
Bells, Candles, Angels and the Star. Even made a Card
hanger this year with green garland rope and red bows.
No snow. Guess our stuffed snowmen will have to do.

Counting Down

24 days.... only three more weeks.

Well I am proud to say. This is the third year we have all the outside
( Our front yard looks like Disneyland ) and inside already decorated for Christmas.
Today I got more shopping done. Still not finished but getting close. So next week will be wrapping, Seeing what is left to get, and writing out the christmas cards.
Remembering last year being so much less stressful getting everything done now. Maybe I can stay with this in years to come. Before these past few years it was always last minute everything. I guess it takes a little kid ( My Sweetie Girl ) to get us adults going sometimes. She will be four in Feburary, going on 12 ha ha They grow so fast.

Princess Lady Bug

She had a great candy day. We started the day hitting the local stores and businesses. And some friends and relatives houses. Then Lady Bug gave out candy here at home to the kids that came by. I wasn't sure how she would do with giving the candy. Turned out she had just much fun giving it as she did getting it. Only thing was she wanted all the kids to stay and play.

Daylight Saving Time

Time to change the clocks back one hour. This coming Sunday 10-29-2006 Daylight Saving Time begins for most of the United States.

Fun Fact: It is Daylight Saving Time, NOT Daylight SavingS Time. We are saving daylight, so it is singular and not plural.

Notice: Beginning in 2007, Daylight Saving Time is extended one month and begins for most of the United States at: 2 a.m. on the Second Sunday in March to 2 a.m. on the First Sunday of November.
Why? Because The Energy Policy Act of 2005 was passed by Congress and then signed into law by President George W. Bush on August 8, 2005. Under the new law, Daylight Saving Time begins three weeks earlier than previously, on the second Sunday in March. DST is extended by one week to the first Sunday in November. The new start and stop period begins March 2007.

We had a great weekend ocean fishing. Catch of the day was an 11 lb. Black Drum. Also caught a nice trout and eight whiting. A few junk fish. Couple small sting ray, Hammer head shark, and ewww a toad fish. Weather was good both days. Saturday was a long 9 hour day. Friday we stayed only 4 hours and caught the most fish. I'm not much of a catcher. It takes more patients than I have to watch the end of a pole waiting on it to make just the right move to be a bite. Gets me confused because the thing seems to always be moving. It is almost as much fun watching someone else catch one as it is catching it yourself. So I still had a great time. Mostly just enjoyed being outside all day.

Ok so I was really bored today. Couldn't think of anything to write so I when internet surfing.
We went to the county fair a couple weeks ago. Sweetie girl had a great time riding every ride they had for her age. I rode the Fairest Wheel with her, it was the open two seater kind. Have to admit I got a little nervous. Cotton candy was a fun treat.
Then the next weekend we went the Adventure Park. They have Rides and Animals there. Think I've had enough of the rides for this year. We are planning to go ocean fishing from the peer this weekend. How fun....lol Anyway that's about all the excitement I have had this month. Here's a few links to some useless facts.

So today I start my day just as any other. After getting ready. Pick up my purse. Head for the door, fumbling for my keys. Humm no keys, sheesh where are my keys. Look everywhere still can't find them. Find my spare and go on to the store. Back home, I have got to find my keys. Well not so much worried about the keys....It's the Remote I'm really going to miss.
Thinking how much is the post office going to charge me to get a new postbox key. Looking every place, thinking there is Noooo where I have not looked. Well I did get a few extra spots cleaned out and trashed some stuff. Then late this evening I remember leaving the key in the front door yesterday. Taking them out and telling sweetie girl to put them in my purse. Not a good idea! Knowing I've already Searched and Cleaned out my purse with no luck. My printer sits on table, where my purse usually lands when I come in. It has one little door for extra paper. Takes a deep breath opens the door and there they lay. Lost and Found oh what a day.

I have been listening to a lot of different types of music this past week. Noticing how quickly my mood changes from one song to the next. Music is everywhere, in our homes, schools, sporting events, shopping malls, in our vehicles as we travel from place to place, while we exercise, at our work, church, sometimes I even like a radio at the beach.

Just wondering what music means to everyone out there; How does is affect you, why and how much are you into it?

Music it is one thing in this world that can calm me down, pump me up, inspire me, and change my life. The feeling I get when I hear my favorite song for the first time is unreal..Or hearing an old song that brings back moments of memories is really great. Music just keeps me going.

Blackberry

Today I read some people are addicted to their blackberries.
Blackberry used to be a fruit for making pies.

Now the blackberry is primarily known for its ability to send and receive e-mail anywhere it has access to an appropriate wireless network of a cellular phone carrier, as well as for its built-in keyboard optimized for "thumbing", or using only the thumbs to type.

Thumbing used to be a term used for hitchhiking. Oddly enough, Now it is way to type on a very small keyboard.

Naggie used to be a term for wife wanting her to do list done pronto, immedility, as in Now!
Well today I find out it has a whole new meaning. You can download this free program called Naggie on your blackberry.
It is a location-based reminder application (similar to web site Remember the Milk) with a very cool twist: it integrates with your blackberries GPS location to give you reminders whenever you're close to a location-based task.

Welcome Home Hun

Rainy and gloomy day. I will be doing lots house cleaning, even going to try and tackel sorting out my daughter clothes drawers. Just glad its not so hot and dry outside, only wet sticky and muggy.

Hubby will be in tonight after staying outa town working for the last 5 days. Going shopping later. Want to make a nice pot roast dinner for when he gets in. And maybe have plenty left for tomorrow too. Menu : Pot Roast, potatoes, carrots, very small onion. Rice and still deciding on the green somthing.

" Croc Hunter " Steve Irwin

Steve Irwin, the ebullient Australian TV personality and conservationist known as the Crocodile Hunter, was killed today by a stingray barb to the heart during a diving expedition.
Irwin, 44, was filming an underwater sequence for a television series on remote Batt Reef off the far north-east coast of Australia when he encountered the ray and was stung at about 11am (0200BST), accoring to a statement from Australia Zoo, Irwin's park.
He is survived by his wife, from Oregon, who was Terri Raines before they married in 1992, their daughter Bindi Sue, eight, and son Bob, who will turn three in December.

Sorry to bring this sad news to you all, if you haven't already heard.
I enjoyed watching his shows.
He will be sadly missed. My heart goes out to his family.

Intuition- A strong word that should never be ignored.
Connect with your inner voice. Meditation can be as simple as taking a walk through the park, inhaling and exhaling deeply or listening to soothing music. It's anything that helps quiet your mind.
My intuition has been telling me to take it easy, lighten up .

Make yourself laugh. Find something funny to read, watch a funny TV show or movie. Remember a funny moment that happened. Think of something that always makes you laugh.

A kindergarten teacher was observing her classroom of children while they were drawing. She would occasionally walk around to see each child's work. As she got to one little girl who was working diligently, she asked what the drawing was. The girl replied, "I'm drawing God." The teacher paused and said, "But no one knows what God looks like." Without missing a beat or looking up from her drawing, the girl replied, "They will in a minute."

Cheetos make me happy. The color orange, the loud crunch in my mouth, the cheesy taste. They always fill that hunger craving of something to snack on. Then I get to lick the orange stuff off my fingers for an extra treat of emotional bonding with myself. Yeah my cheetos are very special.

One happy moment in my life: The birth of my daughter. Being told she is doing fine, no problems. Holding her in my arms and seeing for myself she is perfect. Yes that the word I would describe her still today. My perfect sweetie girl.

One peaceful moment in my life: The last time I went to the mountains. It was cold and snowing. After driving 8 miles up this mountain on a snow covered road. Windows down feeling the cool crisp air, everything white seeing very little green. Arriving at the top with a breath taking view of tops of trees as far as I could see. It was almost like floating in the clouds. The quietness up there was unbelievable. Only hearing things like small cracking noises and a bird chirps from afar.

Feed your esteem. If you want to be more open to adventure, growth, and spontaneous fun, you'll have to starve your brain critic and feed your inner confidence coach. Start each day with a self-affirming statement: "I'm hot, I'm smart, and I'm ready for anything," or "I'm confident, competent, and full of energy." Give yourself compliments that pump up your sense of power. Remember, we are all bombarded every day with subtle and not-so-subtle messages of how "challenging" (scary, dangerous, etc.) things are. Defy them with your own inner dialogue of hope, confidence and strength.

I know.......I've been a bad poster. wow It's been over a month since I wrote anything.
The days just seem to fly by. Many nights I start trying to read, get distracted and don't finish. Well it seems that is the way it goes with everything I start, not just this.
The past couple weekends have been really busy. Four parties I did actually make it too.
Baby shower for my niece, due to have her son second week in September.
Birthday party for my Aunt.
Surprise wedding anniversary for my in-laws, we made 19 gallons of punch for that.
Family Reunion, That I always dread...Yet always glad I went.

Ok and once again, Hope to get back into this blogging. I do enjoy reading other blogs and seem to feel better when writing something. Raining again tonight, got some yesterday too. Everything is so dry, love the air after a good rain.

Honeymoons

Hubby and I had a full four day vacation together alone!
It was so quite and strange without sweetie girl. But good! We had a great time being together alone. Was the first time she has stayed without both of us. Much thanks to sister in law for taking great care of her while we were away. We got nervous and almost went back after two days. Worried how she was taking not having either one of us there. Sister assured us she was doing ok and having a lots of fun. She did say I think it's about time you take me home one time. Sister said she took her to get an ice cream and she was fine. Hubby and I got some cream that night too, smile.

Superman returns was pretty good movie. The original one is better though. Hard to replace Christopher Reeves. Wish they had just made another super hero.
Maybe the invincible Fish. The swimming mermaid man swims and walks on land. Etc...and so on. I might could try to write my own super hero movie someday. ha!
With your own imagination what super hero would you like to see?

Got me summer hair do today. Curls and cut just above shoulders. Feels better, lots cooler. I sit down in the chair sweetie demands her hair will be cut first. Sooo yeah she won. Then she says ok mommy your turn. Hold your head up, don't move :)

Weekend Getaway

I made it to my weekend getaway. Got there at noon. Had a Very relaxing weekend, even though I was busy doing something most all the time. Some shopping in the fun stores. Ate Mexican and had my much needed Margarita Friday night. We got the fihita thing, filling the soft round pita bread with everything. Steak, chicken, shrimp, fryed tomatoes, rice, cheese dip and more. sorry, omg it was great yum!
Saturday was mostly beach. Got some sun, after one hour it was time to head to the store and find an umbrella. That was just the thing. A little shade helps a lot. I don't go in the ocean, well other than the knee high dip to cool off. Later we had a yummy dinner, seafood this time. The appetizer got my highest rating ever. It was a Shrimp cheese ball cracker dip. Then a round of miniature golf, lots of giggling. I think they though we were drunk...haha

Not much going on

This is a total rambling post. I have no special subject in my mind. Wanted to dribble down something to say hello and I'm still around.
Nothing special has happened that I can think of. Haven't done anything different than the usual daily routine.
Mostly been laying around every chance I get this weekend. What's that saying....Think I've got the can't help its.
I'm in desperate need of a weekend away. Planning that soon too. Hopefully next weekend I'll get packed up and take my little trip. Notes...Hopefully!
Summer time and got my regular lawn boy keeping the yards looking good. Wish he could help the little garden...Tomatoe plants are pitiful. I did get a few serving of squash that turned out real good. Made a casserole with some adding a home grown bell pepper in that, fryed the others. Have one watermelon about the size of a large apple and 7 smaller ones so far.
Our blueberry field is loaded and should be ready to harvest the end of this month. I know some people don't like blueberries. I love em fresh, not much into the ones that have been froze or picked very long. Right off the bush though, I can eat all day. Blueberry smoothes are sooo good. I even made some blueberry smoothes popsicles last year. Now that the way to eat them froze, yummy
1 cup ice cream
1 cup blueberries
1 cup strawberries yogurt
1 cup crushed ice
Put all ingredients in blender
Blend on high until smooth
Add a little milk if too thick

Mother's Day

Mother's Day turned out to be a pretty good day. Had a relaxing morning. Sweetie girl brings me two beautiful cards. One from her and one from daddy, awe how sweet....Really it was. Lots of Hugggs and snuggles.
Then what's that little black box over there. My brand new sleek little black ipod , oh wonderful. Just what I wanted, I love it. Got it all loaded up with some songs and pictures. We headed out over to mom-in-laws. Spent a few hours there. Came back home for awhile. Then went out to eat. Steak, salad and baked potato. Yummy

Rant: I do not understand men. What are they thinking? Why do you have to tell some of them every move to make. If you get anything done. I mean like What to do, when to do it. And most the time in detail how to do it. Why why why? I am for sure this one is totally playing dumb because he could care less. And trying to get out of doing anything.

ok so the root of this particular rant is. The man's lawn here at the house is knee high. Does he even care it's mother's day weekend. And that I might enjoy walking outside without plowing thew knee high weeds. To sit in the swing or look at my gardens. NO
He will be going out to the fish pond to shovel lime, mow and weed eat around the pond. Like he hasn't been already been doing that almost every weekend for the past 3 months.

If I thought he had any feelings about this at all. I might would confront him and at least tell him. Hey have you noticed the grass really needs mowing? Nope I still think he could care less. So my feelings are do your thing hun, no problem. I'll hire someone to do it.

So maybe it's time to put up my what's he thinking notes. I found these awhile back while doing some random surfing on this same topic...I don't understand men!
1. The head tilt is a surefire come-hither signal. He's attempting to make himself more approachable.
2. When a man turns in his toes, it's a sign that he is nervous. He's pulling in to protect himself and needs your reassurance.
3. When a guy looks over your head before answering, it's a confessional pose, and he's probably telling the truth.
4. When his brain picks up on something he's very interested in, he subconsciously turns his torso toward it.
5. If a guy says "work is crazy" at the start of a date, it means nothing. But saying it at the end is his escape route.
6. A palms-down gesture indicates that your guy is trying to claim control and may have an overbearing streak he's hiding.
7. Any type of mirroring gesture, like picking up a glass when you do, shows affection. He is aligning himself with you.
8. When the pitch of a man's voice rises even slightly, it means he's not comfortable with what he's saying yes to.

uhuh after finding this. Sure, I have been looking and taking mental notes. My findings are yes most of these are correct. The old surefire body language signals. So do you know any body language that are helpful in understanding men (people).

Well now he can't find a lid to fit a sippy cup. Sheesh

Alan Jackson Concert

Last Saturday we went to see Alan Jackson in concert. When he sang this song little bitty things, Sweetie girl loved it. She was dancing and singing right along . It was an outdooor concert at a theme park with rides, animals, waterpark and food. We had a great time.

I even found out what a marmoset was. lol
My daughter had got this little stuffed monkey from our last trip to the zoo. She named him peaty marmoset. I couldn't understand why she named him marmoset. It just seemed so strange and I couldn't figure out where she heard it. Well I still don't know where she heard the name.

We went to one of the animal shows in the park where the concert was this weekend. And low and behold, there it was....A marmoset monkey. Daughter is saying peaty marmoset over and over. Hubby and I Just look at each and start to laugh. Anyway here's a link, The Common Marmoset if by chance you haven't heard of the marmoset monkey either.

Updates

A little something to let you know I'm still around. Can't think of any special subject to write on. So I'll do some updates.

As for the sweetie girl's schedule I made. Not going well, there was only two days we stayed on schedule. Some days used it as a guide as to what to do during the day. Now it's pretty much back to what ever comes along. I'm just not a schedule person.

Don't plan my weekends, what ever comes up is what we do.
Our vegetable garden is starting to grow. We have a few small tomatoes and squash. Oh and some very small bell peppers are just starting to pop out.

My aunt is out of the hospital and back home recovering from the surgery. She's not well, doing some better though. They are still trying to get her walking again.

We are still keeping the roads hot with our little golf cart. Sweetie girl has been enjoying her summer swimming pool and starting to get a little tan.

Gas prices are way too high , 2.89 for regular. I heard its like 7.00 a gallon in London, England. So can't complain to much, I just don't see how they make it paying that for gas.

Headstart or Not

We checked out the headstart for 3 year olds today. First, I was not pleased with the location and the other headstart places are just to far to drive with the traffic. That one was far enough.
Second, I took a tour of the class, playground and meet the teacher. All seemed to be ok. I did expect a little better environment, just was smaller than I was thinking it would be.
Then later I found out this was the free headstart. I could enroll her in the paying daycare in the same building for 75 dollars a week. Sheesh, I don't think so.
Well I found a pretty good website for preschool teachers. Made myself out a daily schedule of things to teach and do. This website also had a 3 yr. Old checklist of what they should know. She is completely potty trained, knows abc's, all the colors, shapes and can count to 10 easy. Other than interacting with kids her age, I don't think she will miss much in headstart.
I have decided not to sign her up for headstart.
Will probley enroll in pre-k next year. The classes are at the elementary school and I feel better about leaving her there.
We will try learning to write a new letter every week. Ha! :)
Going to work on learning to write her name and read a lot more.

Easter Weekend

Friday was a great day at the park. We took sweetie girl to the lake park in the morning. While we were there a group of about 60 or more children came to join her. Thank goodness they were only one or two years older. She had a blast, making her way though with no problem. We did have to get on to her for pushing them down the slide when they got to slow. Little miss impatient.
I had almost decided not to put her in headstart this coming year or pre-k at age 4. Was thinking kindergarten at 5 would be soon enough.
Now after seeing her with all those kids Friday. I think she will love being around more kids her age. Also maybe it will help her to strive to learn the right way to interact with other kids. So I'll be going to the school soon and checking things out to see when and where I need to start.
We then went out to eat at a seafood restaurant called cedar river. Yum!
Later in the evening we went to another park at the recreation center where they have baseball games. She calls this one her carnival. I guess because most everything is colored yellow, red and blue. We hid some plastic eggs, played some with her new floppy Frisbee. There is a slide approx 12 foot high. For three years old she is not afraid of heights. Climbs right up to the top, down she goes and can't get back to climb the steps fast enough, for her next ride. LOL
Saturday a day at the pond. Hiding eggs and had a picnic. Then rode the buggy around the wooded trails for awhile.
Easter Sunday we went to church this morning. Then over to sister in laws house for dinner. Back home in the evening and couldn't believe the weekend was gone already.

I haven't posted in almost two weeks. Got a message from one of my new blogger friends wondering where I was.
I have been spending a lot of time outside enjoying this spring weather
the last few weeks. Getting me a good start on a summer time tan.

Been a litte depressed thinking of my aunt that has been in the hospital for two weeks.
I went to visit her this past Tuesday and she is not doing well.
Her colon ruptured, they did surgery. She has a serious case of staph infection.
Please keep her in your prayers.
As I was writing this, just got an update call on my aunt. They did surgery again this morning, to drain fluid from her stomach. She is now on a respirator probley for a couple days.
Sounds like she is still in very critical condition.

In case I don't get back on the weekend. Wishing you all a Very Happy Easter.

Vegetable Garden

Got my vegetable garden planted today. The space is way to small for the amount of plants I have in there. Oh well ....We will just see how it goes. Tomato plants, Squash, Bellpepper, Onions, Canolope, Watermelon and some Orange marigold flowers. I'll try to get a picture of the garden put up next week.
In my front yard flower bed, I Planted a few more gerber daises, some marigolds, red with white stripes pansy, and some variegated pansy ( pink, yellow, blue ) mixed in one plant. Oh...And got our outside Easter tree fixed. Hung plastic eggs on Cherokee Rose Tree.

Strange Feelings

I am having some strange feelings lately. It's like I can't make decisions. When I do decide to do something and after doing it. It feels wrong, the only things that come to mind are what I could have done different. Why didn't I just wait and think about it more. Thinking of how I can re-do it and change it back to the way it was before.
This is not normal for me. I usually make a decision and stick with it. So what's up? Right now I'm thinking who did I just ask that question?? Myself ? My blog readers ?......See what I mean? This is crazy.
My stomach feels really weird, like something bad is going to happen.

And to add more confusion.... I just went back and read last Thursday Post. " You can't change the past, but you can ruin the present by worrying over the future.

Could this be the lack of nicotine. Maybe so...It's been almost a month now, no smokes. I have been doing really well. Actually haven't even wanted one really bad only a few times. Right now would be one of those times.....grrrrrr!

Well on to another subject. I seen my Aunt today for the first time in 9 months. Last time I saw her was our yearly family reunion, and didn't get to talk to her much then. This is my mom's baby sister. Since momma passed away, this Easter will be 5 years. I have a hard time being around my aunts. The memories of my mom come back so strong, I can't hardly take it. Anyway she seems very distance with me, like we just don't connect. I had never been around her without my mom being there, and it seems strange to me. Not sure how she feels.
Got finished with weeding all the grass out the vegetable garden today. Second day of shoveling and hoeing dirt, whew my back has had a work out. Maybe why I can't sleep. Went to bed at 10:30 pm tonight. Got up 12:30 am, after tossing and turning for two hours. Watched a little TV, did some reading on computer and then started writing this. So here I am at almost 2:00 am in the morning typing.
I've been going full speed. Don't have any plans for tomorrow. Might be a good day to do Nothing. Well maybe not, that will just leave more time to think and I don't want to think.

New Buggie

To catch up from the last few days:
Friday Shopping bought a 98 Gas Golf Cart. Now if you have never rode one of these buggies. Let me tell you they are so much fun. I have wanted one for a long time, we found a used one for a pretty good price. It has the lift kit and nobbie tires, will be great for scooting around the pond.
Saturday- Got laminated hard wood floor put down in bathroom today. I like the way it looks, a big change from carpet. We are thinking about doing the whole house with this stuff.
Monday- Started weeding and turning the dirt in our little vegetable garden out back. I didn't plant anything last year. The grass has really taken over this past couple years. Got a lot more work to do on that, in the next few days.
Today will probley be mostly inside cleaning. All that dusting, vacuuming, kitchen cleaning stuff.

Skeet Shoot

Happy First Day Of Spring Everyone !

Saturday was my first day of skeet shooting.
Using a 20 gauge shotgun. I hit the first one and the second no problem.
The guys saying hum did she say this was her first time. Me head starts to swell as they say oh she's doing good.
Then I miss the next four. These skeets are small ( about the size of a grapefruit) Flat orange clay (very fragile) things. Now they say hum maybe we should find some plastic one's that don't break on the ground.
Yeah hearing a few Dick Cheney jokes behind me in a low chuckles.
Ok they so quick to judge. I'm really trying to hit the thing now. Low and behold I did...boom boom boom get the next two. So from here on out it was hit and miss, had a lot of fun.

I Shot about 30 shells. My finger started to hurt from pushing the shells in the gun. That was the hardest part for me. They asked is your shoulder hurting, I reply nope just my finger. So I decided to stop for today, before I start missing a lot and really get the put down.
Go over to the skeet thrower and sit down, Bad move.....
Now I'm sitting there over an hour pulling the skeets for the guys. This is not an easy task either, if your not used to it.

ok so Sunday morning we getting ready to go over to sister in law's house to eat fish we caught earlier Saturday ( yes We, I caught two fish today...Smiling well that's better than none and the bass was a nice size ) We had a 5 gallon bucket almost full in all. So anyway Sunday morning , ohhhhh ouch I was aching with pain. Both my shoulders, under my arms, my whole back, my poor finger almost had a blister, it was red with pain. My neck, could hardly even turn my head.
After an hour of moaning took me a shower and got dressed. Feeling a little better I did manage to make it to dinner.

Monday morning still feeling a lot of aches and pain, thinking real hard on if I will be doing the skeet shooting thing ever again? It was fun while it lasted though :)

Happy St. Patrick's Day

1-Clear System Restore Points on Windows xp :

If you haven't done this in awhile it will free up approx. 5% free space on your computer.
First bring up your defragmenter and check your free space.Then do the steps below and check back with defragmenter to see how much free space you gained.
Accessories / system tools / disk cleanup
After your disk cleanup runs , a box will pop up. Click on More Options there. Then at the bottom System Restore, click on Clean up.
This will delete all restore points except the most recent one.

2-How to lock your PC without logging off :

If you want to lock your computer when you leave your desk, you need to change WinXP’s default setting for Fast User Switching. Open the Control Panel and click the User Accounts category. Click the Change The Way Users Log On Or Off listing to display your options. Deselect the checkbox next to Use Fast User Switching and click Apply Options. All you need to do from here is hold down the Windows function key and press L. This locks the computer and displays a logon window that prompts you for a password to unlock things.
However, like most people, you probably installed WinXP without a logon password. If so, this makes the lock function worthless because without a password, all it takes is pressing the ENTER key to unlock your PC. Go back to User Accounts in the Control Panel and click Change An Account. Click whichever account you need to change, and then click Create A Password to assign and confirm a password.

Wake Up!

The Ice Cream Diet

As we all know, it takes 1 calorie to heat 1 gram of water 1 degree centigrade. Translated into meaningful terms, this means that if you eat a very cold dessert (generally consisting of water in large part), the natural processes which raise the consumed dessert to body temperature during the digestive cycle literally sucks the calories out of the only available source, your body fat.
For example, a dessert served and eaten at near 0 degrees C (32.2 degrees F) will, in a short time, be raised to the normal body temperature of 37 degrees C (98.6 degrees F). For each gram of dessert eaten, that process takes approximately 37 calories as stated above.
The average dessert portion is 6 oz, or 168 grams. Therefore, by operation of thermodynamic law, 6,216 calories (1 cal./gm/deg. x 37 deg. x 168 gms) are extracted from body fat as the dessert's temperature is normalized.
Allowing for the 1,200 latent calories in the dessert, the net calorie loss is approximately 5,000 calories.
Obviously, the more cold dessert you eat, the better off you are and the faster you will lose weight, if that is your goal.
Now that I think about it. Maybe this is why alot of people drink smooties when attemping to lose weight. I know I sure love them, any way , any time, and most any flavor.
Yum sounds good to me. I'm off to the freezer for some of my favorite Strawberry Ice Cream.

First Spring Bulbs

On my shopping day this past Friday, I also got a bucket of a variety of bulbs. Glads, Lily, Dahlia, Freeesias and Acidanthera (not sure what this one is)

I spent about 3 hours out in the flower garden today. Planting my first spring bulbs. Clearing out some weeds, sticks, leaves. Put out some better top soil. Mixing in a couple small boxes of wildflowers. Did some raking and finished off with a topping of pine straw.

Wanted to make a note of this to see how many days it takes for them to come up and bloom.

Pond Weekend

Had an ok weekend. Friday did some shopping and went out to eat at Chinese restaurant. Got myself a flower pot holder that holds three flower pots. Think I'm trying to hurry spring time along. My favorite time of the year. Great weather to get outside and work in my gardens. I have a few flower beds around the yard and usually have small vegetable garden out back.
Already had one orange color miniature rose to put in one pot. Bought a Shamrock plant with white flower, no leaves it has 3 leaf clovers for the green part. Nice looking plant, I had never seen one. With St. Patrick's Day coming soon, Just had to get it. So that went in my second pot. For the third, I found a plant with dark blue small flowers. That added a great pop of color to flower pot holder.

Today's Question for everyone: What is the first plant you can think of right now? Other than the three I just named :)

Had a day out by the pond Saturday. We just enjoyed the openness of the country. Sitting under the big oak tree and walking around in the woods always gives me such a peaceful, free feeling. Thinking of all the animals out there. How they survive, finding their own food and water. As they raise there young. Then we fished in the pond for 3 hours. I didn't even get a bite. Hubby caught two bass, brother caught a nice size brim. Very annoying after fishing for 3 hours and not get a bite, except for mosquitoes...Got plenty of bites from them. Was a wonderful pond day, had fun being outside. And I could write another whole page on what my daughter did and how much fun she had :)
Then Sunday was nice sunny day with middle 70's temp. So I got outside again and sat in the sun for about an hour and half. Didn't use enough sun screen. I'm all pink now, always happens my first few times of direct sunshine.

Burn Flip Burn

Here is a great way to label your disk, no paper labels or Sharpies.
With LightScribe, you just burn your data, flip the disc, then burn your label.
Love it, Love it, Love it....My new light scribe is just wonderful, so glad I got it.
After Clicking the right buttons, we got a picture cd burned last night. So today I burned another picture cd. Then put one of daughter's birthday pictures from last month, her name and the year on the label, using the light scribe program. It burns it all into the cd with a laser.
I'm so proud of my first one, I think it turned out really good. Oh and btw if you would like to get one for yourself.

43- Last thing I bought for myself : HP External cd burner drive with light scribe.

Have installed the software and plugged it in so far. Just got it last weekend.
You can make your own cd title and it is suppose to burn it right on the cd for you.
This will be great, if it's not hard to do, well I will find out soon. When I get the nerve to try it out.

41- My computer is a 5 year old Gateway 5300 laptop.

42-The first time I used a computer was : The year 2000.

Was in the library and had no idea what I was doing. I did get the page typed out. Then I asked someone sitting near by how to print it. They came over and showed me how. Then did a spell check, and put spaces between the paragraphs, I remember being so amazed at how Fast they did all that.

Year 2001 got my own computer. Never did take any kind of computer course. I did buy a book, think it was called Teach Yourself Visually. Very easy step by step instructions on how to do the simple things like e-mail and surfing the web.

lol yes 5 years ago, I didn't even know how to compose or send an e-mail. The computer I bought is a gateway solo5300 laptop, Pentium lll , with Windows xp Home. This is what I'm typing on right now, and still working just fine after 5 years.

3 days No Smoking

I have made it 3 whole days no smoking.
Tonight I have been getting a little of the thinking , I've just got to have one.
Ohhh come on girl, don't give in. You can do this! Remember why you quit.
Ok yeah there are a lot of reasons why I quit, so maybe it will help to name them here.

Reasons Why I Quit Smoking :

1- I always hated smelling like smoke the most.

2- Had decided a few years back not to smoke in the house. So having to go outside every time even in the cold, I really didn't like. Would rather do that then have my house smelling like smoke.

3- I would even change into my old smoke shirt every time when going out (7 times a day), so the shirt I was wearing that day didn't smell of smoke.

4- oh and having to brush my teeth after every smoke, whew that's a lot of brushing. It's a wonder I have any enamel left.

5-Wasting $30.00 a month.... $360.00 a year

6-My daughter just turned three years old and starting to notice. Some times she would say....What you doing out there mama, Blowing out your candle?
oh gosh, That sentence alone should make me quit forever!

7- Hubby stopped smoking 5 years ago. So needless to say he's really pleased that I have quit.

8- Health... Can breath better, no more coughing.

Updating my blog tonight. Drinking water, and chewing gum has helped the craving. Haven't been sleeping well. Maybe it's catching up with me and I'll get some sleep tonight. 10:30 pm and I'm heading that way very soon.

Ash Wednesday

I am not Catholic, and never knew until today what
Ash Wednesday meant.
At Masses and Services of worship on this day, worshippers are blessed with ashes by the celebrating priest or minister. The priest or minister marks the forehead of each participant with black ashes, in the shape of a cross.The ashes are prepared by burning palm leaves from the previous year's Palm Sunday celebrations.
Today, Ash Wednesday, marks the beginning of Lent, a season of repentance in preparation for Holy Week and Easter.
After reading different blogs. I found another word I didn't know ( Lent ).
Lent is the practice of giving up something you feel you can not do without for the next 40 days until Easter Sunday.

Trying to quit smoking has been hard. So I decided today will be the day I stop. And hopefully Easter Sunday I will be enjoying a smoke free life.

Red Breast Robin

At this time every year we have a big flock of Red Breast Robins fly into the area and roost in the trees. Yesterday and this morning, I woke up to hundreds of singing robins. It's quite loud with that many birds chirping all at once. They are beautiful and bring the message of springtime.
After doing some research today. I found the real name for them is the American Robin. They are about 10 inches in length (25 cm.) with a brick to orange-red breast, white eye-rings, black head and gray back.
Crayola has a crayon color, robin egg blue named after the color of the eggs.
In the spring, robins will usually migrate back to the same area year after year. Males stake out their territories before the females arrive, singing love songs to the females.
The robin is one of the first birds to sing in the morning and is one of the last to be heard at night.
The male's song is described as a series of musical whistles. "cheerily, cheer up, cheer up, cheerily, cheer up," the robin seems to say, before pausing and singing again.

Since starting my blog a few days ago. I've been trying to think of an interesting topic. So today I've been clicking on the next blog button. Wow what an array of things people write about.
Found a few blogs to add to my favorites, a couple of interesting links. And a cool radio station player called Pandora . It will create custom stations based on your music tastes, just type in a song or artist. Pandora.Com
Here I sit and can't think of one subject interesting enough to even start on. So I'm off to do some house work and then I really need to go grocery shopping. Leaving this as a draft, just in case I happen to think of something else to add.

First Month Exercise

I started seriously putting exercise on my daily list of things to do. Starting one month ago, January 19, 2006. Doing 4 days a week one hour of exercising. Focusing on lower tummy, it has got to go. Not crazy about putting my measurements out to the world, so I'll just say I have lost 2 lbs. And 1 inch from lower waist this past month.

My list of daily exercises are:
20 minutes or more of stair stepping
30 crunches
30 jumping jacks
30 leg lifts
30 broom twist ( sitting in a chair, feet flat, holding a stick behind head and twisting left to right)
20 minutes on tread mill

Valentines Day

Valentines has come and gone. Not that it was more than any other day for me, well I did get a box of chocolates. Mama always said life is like a box of chocolates, You never know what your going to get. Last time I ate chocolate candy, a visit to the dentist was soon to follow. So needless to say it wasn't the best valentine gift for me. They say it's the thought that counts, yeah yeah. Well maybe he should have put more "Thought" into it. Anyway I ate a couple pieces and didn't give him a hard time about it. No need to make a mountain out of a little piece of candy.
